Hmmm... What if we made a baby together? And not in the regular 'screw goes into hole' way. I mean literally make one. There has to be something to Automotons that makes them alive. Most common way I see it referred to is as a soul drive (or a spark if you're on /co/). We craft one together, put a bit of our life forces or whatever into it to start it, and then implant the drive into a body. It's literally the daughter we created and gave life to.
