Anon nods sagely as the doll begins to explore his chin and facial hair, “And the dolls that don’t take to their purpose?”

Alice smiles wistfully, “Then there’s always something that they’re even more interested in. Accommodating them is easy enough, just let them do the thing they want and make another doll to fill the job they were supposed to do.”

Anon sighs, “Well that certainly seems like an easier form of parenthood, though I’d not give up my own for anything in the world.”

Alice shakes her head, “It might be easier per creation, but you forget how many dolls I need to watch over. B-But, in response to what you said before, I don’t think she’d need to come home. We could just come over and visit.”

Anon looks down at the doll trying to pull back one of his fingers, “If you have as many dolls as I’ve been led to believe, I’m not sure I’d survive that.”

Alice blushes, “They’re not all clingy… No, that’s a lie. They aren’t all as clingy as her. Given that she wasn’t created with an occupational duty she’s a bit more… affectionate than say a gardener doll.”

For some reason that analogy seems to click for Anon given how his eyes light up, “Oh, like a working dog and a lap dog. A working doll and a lap doll.”

That… foolish comment prompts the doll to stomp on his hand. Alice can’t imagine that hurts, but from experience, she can say that the look said doll is giving him definitely does. Turning to the doll Alice says, “Don’t say that. Every doll is a working doll. It doesn’t matter if they are a doll that helps sew, oversees other dolls, or cuddles, they each fill an important and unique role.”

The doll beams at that prompting Anon to scratch his neck (with the hand a doll isn’t currently standing on), “Ah, my mistake. I’m sorry Miss Doll, can you find it in your heart to forgive me?”

The doll huffs for a moment before immediately caving and nodding enthusiastically. For some reason, she then begins rubbing her eyes and wanders over to a napkin. Before slipping under her makeshift blanket, she shoots Alice a wink of all things.

It’s quiet for a while after that. Anon is staring at the doll with a genuine look of happiness and even Alice knows that such a thing shouldn’t be interrupted. Finally, he sighs before looking back up at Alice, “Thank you. I… appreciate it. You didn’t have to.”

That… there’s a good response to that! Think Alice, think! Hit by a sudden divine (presumably from Shinki) wave of inspiration Alice replies, “No, but I wanted to.”

As the inspiration fades away she continues, “Anyways. I suppose that’s everything. I’ll come back to check on you soon.”

With what could perhaps be called a forward look Anon replies, “Ah wait, you still have time in the session. If you wanted to we could…”

Whatever Anon was going to say was cut off by the sound of Alice’s chair falling over and her subsequent scrambling away towards the door on all fours. Somewhere along the way, she realized she can fly as she’s flying when she replies, “I’mSorryButINeedToGoTalkToShanghai.I’llBeBackSoon.ILoveYou.IMeanUhIUhhIUhhhSeeYouLater!”

The doll who got up during all this places her hands on her hips and shakes her head towards her creator.

It was right around this time Anon realized that he’s gonna need to send said doll somewhere else when most clients were in to avoid it seeing things it never should be exposed to.
