Pekora has always been the constant presence in Hololive the entire year of 2020. No yabs. No long breaks. No sudden change in content style. No reduction of quality. It was an even flow of great streams nearly every day. She has absolutely been dependent on her fans just as much as they have on her. It’s taking a toll, certainly. When she returns she will be better than ever, I know it.

Pekora was a former NND streamer and was already familiar with what the trappings of a hobbyist streamer were. She was very ready to grow herself right from the beginning as opposed to OTHER holos that are comfortable with low numbers until they are the lowest on the board. Sending out the SOS. Pekora listened to her viewers and tried to build on what she felt they liked about her stream. She knew that there were certain games people liked to watch and she would play them even if she wasn’t good at them. I realize that doesn’t sound like much but there are some holos that won’t touch a game if they feel they’ll be made fun of for poor play (Choco for example). She also knew that sometimes what the viewer wants to see is poor play. There is a draw for that in some cases. She’s found a formula that works and the viewers like it. In almost every case of struggling holos they are either still really new and haven’t found their niche yet or they got comfortable; their channels turned into little cozy places for the streamer and the enjoyment of the viewer is a distant 2nd place and is rarely, if ever, considered.
