I think that's the right idea, but iron itself isn't death to nuclear reactions. It's simply not usable and gets ignored. As she has something else to burn she'll be okay. Better for shutting down nuclear reactions would be a neutron poison such Xe-135 or B-10, which would stop nuclear reactions by stealing the neutrons necessary to sustain a chain reaction.

This kills the yatagarasu, but Okuu was a hell raven before she was the divine flame, so she'll be okay.
