Youkaifuckers wouldn't be so bad if they had even an ounce of creativity instead of writing their "youkai" wives as the most generic of humans.
They're supposed to be inhuman monsters, people. Relationships with them should end up in complete disaster 95% of the time, and even the relatively successful pairings should involve a ton of problems simply because of the extreme differences in culture and species.
If you're not writing your stories to revolve around how your youkai wife forces you to help her unleash a plague on some stranger's crops because she thought their owner looked at her funny, you're doing it wrong.

Also, only the most degenerate of youkai and associates would want their spouse to become an inhuman. They understand the nature of mortality perfectly fine and it's a key part of why human spouses appeal to them in the first place. Their short lives and desperation to make meaning in their ephemeral existence is what makes them so lovely. If they wanted to be with someone forever, they would've just married a youkai from the get-go.
