It was incredibly boring.

The conversation started relatively well but rather than what I expected, y'know… dragon stuff—which directly correlated to cool stuff—they just talked about… Normal stuff! And I can't even understand what Koutei's saying because Suika manipulated the density of her draconian vocabulary, which was 0 words, into all words! That's cool and all, but she said she couldn't do it for me because of a string of words she'd spoken that were very complicated and long and so I've already forgotten… Eh, probably wasn't important. Sadness of not comprehending Mr. Dragon aside, soon I found myself dying of boredom poisoning as I watched Suika ask weird questions about Kasen, Yukari and the HSE—the what…? Oh, didn't Orin talk about something like that when she was plotting to kill a guy or something?—, to which Koutei answers with different rumblings, each travelling the Underground and shaking its foundations, be it softly or harshly, to the point Yuugi would sometimes leave to verify the integrity of things. Hope it's all going well with the furnace… Well, if something bad happened to it, everyone but me and Mr. Dragon would already be dead.

Yuugi that had abruptly appeared to my side laughed as, to entertain myself, I started experimenting on Mr. Dragon's scales, the mini-sun spinning about half the speed of light on my very fingertip being pressed gently against the iridescent green carrying enough output to devastate the entire Underground. Ruffling my wings in annoyance, I look at her. “Whatcha are laughing at?”

“Nothing, nothing—just amused. Sure you are not an oni?” She asks with a raised eyebrow, taking a seat to my side and bringing that sake plate to her lips. Down below on Koutei's snout, Suika continued her questionnaire. “Sorry for Suika. She's usually more carefree, but Kasen is involved and, well… She hasn't seen much about her these past years, so she's being very protective.” I blink. What the heck is she talking about? Our eyes meet and, after mumbling some half-assed words—'not being let into?' Into what…? Is she drunk too? I'm starting to hate drunkards, and the nuclear option is as enticing as ever—realization seems to dawn on her because she's laughing again. “Sorry me now~guess I just assumed you were sad for not… Eh, forget it. Want a drink?” She offered the plate.

“I don't drink; Satori-sama said it'd make my output go 5–13.”

Yuugi blinks, shrugs, and resumes drinking. The Underworld shakes as Koutei's voice echoes against the walls, the people below in awe. I pout harder, hands itching to reach for my arm cannon… Nah, it'd make Koutei sad, and I don't like to use overwhelming power against sad people, as overwhelming sadness can be quite a terrifying opponent. “Shame, isn't it?” Fixing her purple yukata and staring down at those jerks below, Yuugi speaks as she drains what seems like an endless supply of alcohol. “I tried to speak to them, but one thing force cannot destroy is faith: You punch them in the face; the next day they're back praying, begging for our ultimate downfall…”

“They should stop; Mr. Dragon doesn't like it!” I say, pouting.

“You're more than right, Utsuho-chan, but no one likes to be hopeless, so they seek comfort in anything—even if it harms others.” Her gaze shifted to Suika for a brief moment before returning to me. “Don't blame those bumbling fools; blame Yukari, who has brought so much pain to my sister and her friends.” Her words bore rage that lasted as much as alpha decay, a slim smile soon painting her face. “In that line, I was meaning to ask you: how much do you know of our situation? The sword, poor Koutei here, the HSE…?”

She drinks more, chains chiming—waiting…

… I cocked my head to the side, and she almost choked on sake. “Heh~I think that answers it. Satorin shouldn't be considering taking you with us if you're not on par with most of what's happening, which is a shame, but…” She eyes the mini sun I hold. “Guess it's the safer choice.”

I blink; w-what should any of this mean?! “Hey, explain this… stuff! I'm curious now!” I swing my arms around, the mini-sun threatening to reach mini-critical mass.

“Just wanted to make sure—ask your master, not like she can hide everything forever.” She brings forth a hand and, as if candlelight, snuffs the mini sun. Wow~! So cool! The little display quenched the sudden anger and utter boredom the last 20 minutes—felt like a lifetime—put me through, though curiosity still lingers inside, posing as a dam between this quiet and the temptation to put her statement of wresting a nuke to the test. “How's Koishi doing? Been busy lately with religious fanatics and couldn't be there for her usual nighttime story~” She giggles before guzzling even more sake.

“Ah, I’ve been busy too—last I heard was from Orin: Koishi-chan entered labor~”

And half that sake went flying off her mouth. “W-WHAT?!”

I sulked, annoyed. “What's so surprising about Koishi-chan getting a job? I’ve got one, too!”
