Why did Ange have such a prideful and defiant attitude all the time even though she was prepared to kill herself? If she really was so depressed that she didn't care about her life, why didn't she become a stripper or a whore so she could have some fun? Why did she care so much about her pride, to the point that she didn't mind dying a virgin?

She surrendered to the bullies in the past and agreed to confess that she's a worthless shit in front of the entire class. I wonder what other humiliating things they forced her to do. I bet she did it all willingly because she had lost all her self-esteem and it was easier for her to submit, think of herself as worthless furniture and enjoy her own humiliation.

I found a new appreciation for EP6 after I figured this shit out. It's one of my favorite episodes now.

I never got why Shannon and Kanon were hoping for the miracle of being loved despite their physical condition, or why they had a duel to decide which gender would win, because Beatrice would kill them all anyway. I always felt it was pointless. Why would a person who has lost all hope and is planning to end everything that night even bother deciding which gender they want to be, think about the future and hope to be accepted?

Then I finally got it. The narrative has always been portraying Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice as separate characters. Shannon and Kanon know that their relationships won't succeed without a miracle. And they know that one of them has to be sacrificed so the other can have a complete soul and be able to love, because furniture have incomplete souls. Meanwhile, Beatrice is planning to sacrifice everyone and revive as a witch. This is all the fantasy narrative. Shannon and Kanon have been fantasy characters from the beginning, just like Beatrice. The real person behind them has simply abandoned all hope and doesn't believe a miracle could happen.

I don't know why I didn't realize this sooner. I completely forgot about Beatrice and found all the scenes where Shannon and Kanon wonder about the future and decide a "winner" really weird, because I thought they were aware of the crime that would happen that night. But of course they aren't, they represent the parts of Sayo that don't want to commit the crime and still have hope, even though they can't win against the witch part that wants everyone to "go to the golden land" and end their suffering.
