I am just saying, that anon's logic would apply to all nerd shit, no matter where they came from. I, for one, don't see much difference in western capeshit comics and battle shounen manga, besides the blatant homo pandering.

Episode 4 threw me off guard, seriously.
A lot of you /v/ posters mostly claim that it was impossible not to figure out how magic works by how obvious episode 3 and 4 made it, but I still was completely fooled by episode 4.
I tried to come up with a way how the characters could have fallen through hidden trapdoors, or how they might've been 'teleported' etc. for too long.
I thought Kinzo had an actual torture chamber beneath his mansion until episode 7 disproved that.
When Ange killed the soldiers and Kasumi at the end of the chapter I was convinced that she had turned into a real witch and understood magic.
And I'm not even stupid, it's just that good of a mystery.

I was thinking more in the line of having some of the same players and rules, but on a new but related gameboard in some form.
With the completely unexpected sequel that was Gou, I'm hoping for ANY new anime projects to be announced at this point, and something like this would be amazing (to me).

You obviously weren't there for Umineko's Episode 2, which was so far removed from anything we had ever seen (and making the tea parties canon) that a lot of people said wtc was broken forever. The fuck is that magic, the fuck are those parallel dimensions, the fuck that tea party, the fuck that western coating. Nowadays Umineko is highly regarded, but back then the fanbase was torn apart. Obvious in hindsight, right?

Ryukishi has said numerous time that he wants to explore new things for each WTC instalment, and that's why he went from Higurashi (eastern horror) to Umineko (western meta-murder mystery). He wants to surprise readers most of all, and doesn't want to retread old grounds. Everyone sane expected something completely unexpected for WTC 5, if only because he has explicitly told us several times that he would write something unexpected.

Could have been a space opera WTC, could have been an Isekai WTC, but instead we got Strike Witches. Which is guess what, unexpected. Kind of the fucking point kiddo.
