What gets me about these arguments is that there's examples, bits, gags, and anecdotes, in canon that exist as evidence to every side, some get cited more than others, but it all continues in the same cyclical argument. I've come to the conclusion that Canon Gensokyo exists only in ZUNs mind, and with doujin culture being such a big part of Touhou I don't think he cares too much how accurate people are to the details. Pay respect to the source material, but indulge in your own headcanon.

It's a bigger deal when the person in question lives as long as you, such as IRL and there's the value of saving for marriage which is expected or hoped to last until death and be loyal throughout.
For Youkai, much less fictional Youkai where they can live many times your lifespan, you can't hold them to the same values as you, nor are they going to hold you to their values. So long as she's not a rampant slut with no values, I could care less that she lost her virginity a millennia ago with some dude who is now fragments of bone in the ground: There's nothing you can do about that. Ran and Yukari for example are one thing; they're both ancient hags and could have fucked your great^4 grandfather for all we know. Now if Reimu, Marisa, or Sanae lost their virginities before the game, then I have a problem because whoever they lost it to could still be around and they're still young with the player probably being their age. I edit Sakuya precisely because of this.
