>I'm surprised that we haven't seen big companies try to cash in on it yet but I'm sure "The Official Wendy's™ Vtuber" will come about eventually.
There's a few anime series that have already tried forays into vtuber stuff. More recently Jashin-chan has a vtuber spinoff called Jashin-channel that comes to mind, but I'm pretty sure there were a few others that tried this as well.

That's why I don't think it's fair to compare vtubers to stuff like boats - unlike them they have a huge capacity for expansion and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of IP's end up incorporating them in some manner. I also see a lot of Japs talking about wanting to see certain game characters make vtuber debut's as well. I'd like to think I'm just exaggerating but I wouldn't be surprised if they become a cornerstone icon for younger people over the next few years, especially as technology continues to advance. It's all the more reason for them not to be on /jp/, not enforcing a move to the new board is just a temporary anathema, it's only gonna get worse as time goes on.
