If we actually get that answered, I'd guess writing? It seems like the only thing that could fit with her never settling anywhere. Although you'd think if she was some big writer that got enough money to travel around the world it'd have come up already.

OTOH, like I said above, we have this 40 years old mystery about people disappearing and dying through several consecutive years, but one of those people is walking around without issues, and the story hasn't even acknowledged that at all.
