"checking out" is still going to be the length of a book though.
I think it's a good read. With the biggest flaw being repetition of certain phrases and themes, it's got fun characters and plot. Yet of course it's unfinished.

So the question is, do you enjoy cliffhanger endings? Personally I actually enjoy stories like say Twin Peaks where the ending is never ever.

Nah like anon said it's an excuse, a permanent one.
What I think happened is that, you know Ryu is bad with negative feedback. Higurashi Sotsu was received so badly it utterly crushed his confidence to the point where he just can't write anymore.
