My bad, I think you misunderstood what I've said. I kinda hated the "without love, it cannot be seen" or lines like this that was endlessly repeated on episode 6.
Wasn't the love Yasu/Sayo had for Battler one of the biggest factors that lead to his/her internal struggle and despair? Battler fucking off for 6 years, the horse prince and stuff. I think this is a big why, not just a part of it. Of course there's the shit life at Ushiromiya island too.
