Are games like 999, Infinite Space and Hotel Dusk considered Visual Novels?

At least it feels like most of them were meant to be.
The gameplay gimmicks in each one of them look more like a way to show off the touchscreen capabilities of the DS than to actually function as games focused solely on gameplay.

Their entries on vndb sound like enough proof to me that they are Visual Novels.
What do you think /jp/?

I'm playing Yume miru kusuri, on Nekoko's route.

How many of you have played 999? It's just as good, if not better than Ever 17. A little short though, but the puzzles are fun.

For a puzzle game- it's pre-school level, just horrible.
For VN - Ever17 lite in all ways. Less boring shit, less complex storyline, weaker revelations.
