Forgot to post this, you basically have the kana memorized, you're just really slow at it. What you do is you start reading or doing Core6k or something, and read all the sentences for however long it takes for them to become second nature, you get a little faster every day.

Always avoid romaji, especially when starting, because then you aren't thinking this is Japanese, you're thinking this is a squiggle that represent "ka" when actually it's a squiggle that represents the sound /ka/ just as much as "ka" does

You watch anime and someone says "hanako" or whatever, you have to think "はなこ" *because you don't know the kanji at this point*
Whenever you hear Japanese you associate it with the proper kanji, kana and idea/imagery, not the word/sound written in romaji. You'll soon get very irritated when you see weeaboos write "misaki-chan is so kawaii"

Get English/your native language out of your system as quickly as possible whenever your encounter Japanese and you'll associate ideas with Japanese words, not English words with Japanese words

Pic related is 花&はな, stop thinking it's a flower
