While Rumia is a risky bet, a decent number of youkai are effectively harmless.
The Scarlets, Rumia, etc. are hardmode while it would be presumably far less risky to attempt to get a fairy or kogasa to fall for you. To get Remilia you would probably have to be a wealthy gentleman or an esteemed retired military officer or something, though I feel like just befriending youkai like kogasa would get her heart.
