Also have any of you heard about Oblomov? It's another classic staple of Russian literature, the novel about the man so lazy and whose existence is so meaningless, it takes 170 pages for him to just get out of bed. It's really really boring novel actually, and was a real dread to read for 16yo me, but it reminds me that written word shouldn't always be fun to accompany the topic unfolded by the author. That post >>18598934 pointed out that repeated nature of some of the scenes in Umineko is usually the way to strenghten the themes and exposition. Higurashi is mostly the same, and even if sometimes it made my eyes roll explaining yet again the situation about the dam conflict, and the curse, and Hinamizawa customs, it served the purpose, usually as a buildup to something or to show the outlook on the subject from the eyes of another character. When people are saying me that Umineko and Higurashi should be cut by whatever percent it triggers me beyond the measure as to lose the subtlety and the structure of Ryu's stories is equivalent to losing heart.

Internet isn't the same place compared to eight years ago and I'm afraid that if wtc5 happens to be at least as good as Umineko it'll be memed by fanbase to a heat death.
