I admit that the Japanese dolls look better than Western dolls.

Still, I kind of want a mechadoll. The skeleton, features, durability and overall quality are said to be better than realdoll... at least from the people who actually could buy them. It seems now that the company has a spotty reputation and I'm having trouble finding testimonials from new owners. Shame, since the new mechadoll site features reduced prices and optional heating.

One of the guys who used to make dolls for them and has access to the molds makes an improved skeleton with joint protection for the fingers (prevents the wire from poking out, as well as a wire mesh underlayer to help the silicone stay attached to the underlying foam instead of delaminating. Problem is that his dolls have terrible faces and lack the heating.

I love the look of the Japanese dolls, but there's just so little information on them. I guess the one hope I have is that they're tighter than a western doll but it's just hard to tell because no one takes pictures of their entries.
