Yeah you miss out references and such, but what I'm trying to say is that is not a deal breaker, is not something that will make that big of a difference in your enjoyment of the core of Umineko, the Higurashi references are cherries on top that makes the experience sweeter.

Well regarding this, I feel that it takes a whole different meaning, is not that they lose all the impact is just that is harder to empathize with them (Mainly Bern, without the context of her backstory.)
