i wasn't part of this discussion until now but i certainly "made it" and i would say it generally makes sense to look up every word you don't know
though one important thing to consider of course is your enjoyment, if you can't be bothered to look up everything just stop looking up shit rather than consuming altogether because that's the worst thing you can do
what i did is, have some "burner shows" that i would just watch without giving a fuck about looking up things (also nice for watching something while eating), and shows where i would look up everything, and i could switch between them freely depending on what i felt like doing at the moment
