even the 1946 american family christmas movie called "it's a wonderful life" was banned from being shown in japan since there were scenes in the movie in which 12 to 13 year old girls were shown having boyfriends and expressing their crushes on boys, especially the "you like every boy" scene.

this puritanism didn't last every long though, the US military government effectively reduced the structure of censorship to rubble
