Well because all it was was the military trying to jew their way out of replacing old issue pistol belts with the shitty o-rings for the hanger wire system (see; outdated shit). So some dumbass decided to create the ALICE system using easily bendable clips, and the separate sizes for the pistol belts fucked up everything.
