Elaborating some more. Good luck understanding much of anything of substance while just being able to read most sentences and not the other 20% or so that actually contain content of substance.

I don't imagine that an eternal JLPT N2 pleb who just stopped there and never looked up another word would even be able to read children's manga and actually consistently understand what's going on and why the characters are doing what they're doing.
