I normally use the default one, then switch to the Kenkyusha J-E if the intended meaning isn't entirely obvious (which is most of the time for me right now). It looks wordy, but you don't have to read the whole lot, it's enough to just scan through the definitions and example sentences until you find one that seems relevant.
