Now it is Mari-Lwyd's turn.
In Welsh Christmas tradition a humanoid skeletal mare wearing a white sheet and decked out in ribbons and bells visits towns knocking on doors and visiting pubs to collect money for charity.
It was common for Mari-Lwyd to show up at doorsteps and sing until the owner let them in.
The person inside needs to sing back with excuses why Mari-Lwyd cant come it and a rhyming battle ensues.
Mari-Lwyd usually gains entry through it's cunning wit and rude rhymes where she gets to raid your pantry and drink all your beer.
