ERRATA. I should have proofread before posting. I meant to say "Studio monitor headphones are required to have even frequency RESPONSE RATE and volume delivery with low-frequency response not absolutely required."

The frequency response is even, but the rate of response is not required to be even across the low frequency end. Of course, this is not an officially published "standard". It is what I have observed trying various audiophile studio monitor headphones. I prefer studio monitor headphones compared to general purpose audiophile headphones. That's because I'd rather hear the music _reproduced_accurately_ rather than have the music _experienced_accurately_ from headphones that are better matched to my individual ears ability to pick up sound.
