/jp/, I have a confession to make, I've never played an eroge and I don't understand the concept. If you are playing it for the story I can understand it, but then the sex seems superfluous. If you are playing it for the sex, why do you want to work for your porn.

Eroge other than visual novels seem to be inferior to either regular games, or regular hentai / porn.

However the concept of wading through a plethora of text (sometimes with a fast forward option?) bemuses me. I'm supposed to find it heart warming or moving but still fap at the relevant moments? Isn't it awkward to play a game that has periodic sex scenes and effectively reach sexual satisfaction, or do you not in fact masturbate to h-games and just look at them as sensual?

As I know you are the expert on the subject, enlighten me /jp/, I'm truly curious.
