On the topic of aircraft Tanaka wants to add this to LBAS. It was apparently no good against Submarines.
So I wonder which aircraft performed the best against Submarines?

I don't think their super special ASW plane(the first of it's kind) was any good either. Most submarine losses seem to come from their patrol boats. Some fleet destroyers also got some kills. And then of course some USN subs were lost to friendly fire or their own torps.
Some submarines like Albacore also ran into mines.
