The demonic half of a soul. Given that all humans are Nephalem they're the bastard children of demons and angels. The only reason why Malthael even spared Tyrael when he had his brother literally a second or two from becoming a desiccated corpse was because he lacked the demonic essence that all Humans have.

He's more Monster than Man, especially given that he fucking represented one of the Angiric Council and fought in the Eternal War before Sanctuary's formation. No matter what you say, Tyrael will always be another shitty monster-who-looks-like-a-man that won't ever be able to touch the raw potential a Nephalem has.
