Just personally for me a significant part of what attracts me to my waifu is that she has power, and she's turned on as fuck at knowing I want power and that I'll do what it takes to have her grant me some. I think its a cultural thing. But you do you!
As for friends, of course I'd still want my waifu as involved as possible. But if she's busy with something one day I don't think its a sin to chill with another anon or hang out with the servants or chat it up with the townsfolk.
