No shit, if you limit the idea of having sympathy with Satoko to the pre-looping stuff where Satoko is bullied you have sympathy for her, but if you actually take everything else into account Satoko watches ALL that happens to Rika in her own 100 year loop and then goes on to decide to keep Rika trapped in the loops forever so she can be with her. This isn't even a remotely sympathetic character or goal or ideal, it's pure selfishness. I could sympathise with it maybe in the same way I sympathise with a fucking schizophrenic who smears his shit over the wall and then kills 13 people because he was abused as a kid, but being fucking nuts alone isn't a good thing to base a sympathetic character around.

I would also like to remind everyone that the dumb ghost is built for bullying.

Why do some people (mostly anime-only fags) claim that Higurashi got ruined when Hanyuu was changed from a god to an alien? It never "changed" like that.

-Arc 6 introduces the alien theory as foreshadowing
-Arc 7 introduces Hanyuu and the meta-space, and gives you no explanation about her origins whatsoever
-Arc 8 all but confirms that she and her tribe were metaphysical aliens in at least 3 scenes + the very last TIP after the ending
-Arc 9 doubles down on it and makes it even more painfully obvious. It also explains that Hanyuu is basically the wandering ghost of a meta-alien and can perma-die whenever she wants (the Hanyuu from the Saikoroshi world is actually dead because she was satisfied with the state of Hinamizawa and decided to pass on)

I understand someone not liking the magic characters introduced in that one relatively comedic and probably non-canon Hou arc because it changes the tone of the story or whatever. But Hanyuu's origins were never "changed". The anime just skipped all of her backstory and even her character arc, turning her into a cute plot device that doesn't seem to fit in the story. And the VN requires Umineko levels of reading between the lines, which isn't really that much but could go over the heads of those who take things at face value or didn't realize who Yasu was even after EP7
