Why do you hate yourself /jp/? Why do you sage posts that are on-topic and relevant to the thread?

Is self loathing a necessary trait of Otakus?

Many people have obsessions and hobbies. Just because you are into figurines or Japanese video games doesn't mean you have no self worth. Why does it seem that /jp/ers have no self-esteem?

I'm relatively new here, obviously. I collect manga even though I cannot read Japanese. I read translated ones online but purchase as many as I can, especially from authors I have enjoyed. I don't think that makes me a loser or anything but I've noticed that seems to be a overall sadness to this board that I haven't seen in traditional forums. Is this an image board thing?

Please forgive my ignorance and try to be serious here.
