Personally, from what I've learned of the human psyche, people often undermine their own strength of will. They get in their own way. Why would anyone go to an Anime convention to socialize when there are plenty of places to socialize that don't involve fat sweaty fucks dressed up as cartoon characters? They are nothing more than a collection of man-children who have refused to grow up.
