Women don't have the instinct simply to fuck and become sperm receptacles and that's it. They're driven to attach themselves to a male or males after sex in order to increase the chances of survival for themselves and their offspring. How long do you think a pregnant woman would last in the time leading up to and following labor if they didn't have someone else with them?

Also, nature versus nurture. We may not be born with the concepts of love or marriage, but people are or at least were bludgeoned over the head with those ideas to the point that it becomes part of their mentality.

Now being sexually open (read: a slut) is socially acceptable and even encouraged in some ways, for better or worse.
