Community-wise: Online 2kki has all kinds of people, but it seems to have a lot of the usual young users from various countries that are attracted to free games with no high end PC requirements. Take that as you will.
You can also expect some of the sort of creatures that usually dwell within discord-related spaces, if that bothers you.
The biggest userbases are english and/or spanish speaking, but there's also koreans, russians, and japanese. The japanese tend to appear and form parties at certain hours (good JST timezones). Some people like the author of .flow also visit the game sometimes.

Overall people are quite chill. I like how sometimes, with no words but just behavior, flashmobs form of people using certain effects in the Nexus, or some people start following others around and so and expeditions are formed up on the fly to go to to some arbitrary world.

I generally stick to either observe it all develop as a disattached observer, or toggle Immersion Mode and explore around, and if I find a random dreamer in some world, exchange a brief conversation. Though sometimes just following some dreamers around is fun too.
I find this to be like experiencing an interconnected dreamworld, sort of a collective unconscious, so there's a strong argument for a chat, and words in general, to alter the experience, but overall if you don't go so far so as to treat it as a Club Penguin kind of thing, it's quite nice to have a talk here and there.
