Their conscious goes to the Dreamworld when they sleep. If they wind down it doesn't seem that their conscious goes anywhere, their artificial spirits are the ones who locate their new masters after all. When they die their conscious goes into the N-field, specifically the Sea of Unconsciousness. The Dreamworld and the N-field are separate things.

They actually do. In RM0 it's mentioned that they can lose memories if they do not sleep in their cases for a while. In the original manga it's also mentioned that regularly sleeping in their case is how they create new rings of contract.

Clockwork was covered but in this case I heavily doubt they have any holes down there. Real life female BJDs will sometimes have the faint impression of labia, which is the case of Rozen Maiden, or a small and usually not freehanging dick in the case of male dolls.

Reading Tale 57 Rozen probably created them to help the dolls during the upcoming Alice Game, which they mostly help with locating new masters. To be fair, they're not all that useful and Peach-Pit even tends to forget that they exist sometimes.

In NOMAD anime canon, yes. In manga, not really? Tefuko's case in the manga is weird. Since the reason she came alive was due to Rozen's fuckery and she was unable to stay alive indefinitely because she wasn't a Rozen Maiden with a Rosa Mystica, it might just be that you need to be on his insane level of skill to get a doll moving.
