Has anyone tried Touhou on both TN and IPS panels?

When I tried my Samsung 120hz monitor, which was a fairly expensive TN panel monitor, I was disappointed with the colours on Touhou even after calibration. It just looked washed out. It looked so much better on my NEC IPS, which is now 5 years old.

This was a big gameplay issue for me. I noticed with the better colours, particularly the better contrast, it became a lot easier to dodge things. I became aware of them sooner because the colours were more vivid.

Still hopelessly confused. Hoping to read more thoughts on the issue so I can know more to make a decision.
