It didn't idolize Japan or Japanese culture enough.
They are an extremely proud nation. If the movie didn't have this than it's just another gaijin movie.
It didn't do any of that either.
It just had gaint robots.
It didn't have Japan as the shining force of justice or enough main characters.
For goodness sake; they had a black man save Japan and adopt a little false stero-typical Japanese girl who falls in love with a white man.

That's some multiculturalism that's not going to fly.
