Now that the Cold War is twenty years behind us, I am worried that an entire generation has grown up without an appreciation of nuclear weapons.

Whenever nukes are discussed, they're almost always in the contest of "global thermonuclear WAR." But there are other, friendlier ways to make it glow.

The point is that there are all these wonderful things, yet no-one is making any serious effort to capitalize on them. They are part of the glorious history of the 1950s yet even avowed nostalgia runs like Fallout skirt around them going for the burned-out nuclear wasteland apocalypse. Wouldn't it be better to have a largely-habitable planet with great globs of green goop scattered hither and fro?

Basically, what I am saying is that we have got to make tactical nuclear warfare moe.

Let's talk about how this would work. Say, a danmaku-style shooter where you have to dodge colorful thermonuclear airbursts that fuck with your electronics and spread toxic radiation. Or a Rance-type strategy RPG where instead of recruiting soldiers, you recruit skilled nuclear bombers who you must then fuck to ensure the perpetuation of their skills and your radioactive immortality.
