Please explain to me this mass psychosis that is called Touhou. Why is everyone so obsessed with these diaperheads?

Touhou is based on poor drawings and uninnovative games with barely interesting characters.
Still, it's like Touhou is the only thing people draw art of. Why?
I even have a friend who can only fap to Touhou. Whenever he browses danbooru, he searches for pictures with the "touhou" tag. He simply cannot fap to a picture unless it's one of these diaperheads.
To me every character seems to be a 900-year-old witch that looks like a child wearing 19th century doll clothing yet still boasts superpowers ridiculous enough to make a 5-year-old cringe. My best guess is that this is some kind of an autism trigger.
