The relationship between Christianity and fairies is... complicated. Depending on who you ask, they're either a type of angel, a type of demon, gods demoted by the Lord due to abuse of their abilities and remade into His image out of mercy, or something else entirely whose origins are separate from the angel/demon-youkai/human dichotomy. Though Christians were the first to demonize them, they were also the ones who gave them their current modern image of pretty (relatively) friendly winged creatures that appears to ring true in Gensokyo, and fairies like the Leprechaun are a part of the overall culture.

As fairies are among the few individuals of Gensokyo confirmed to speak English (Clowpiece, the fairy maids) coupled with the general Christian instinct towards acting chivalrous towards the weak and innocent, they are among the most likely, if only inhabitants that a would-be crusader would find any form of understanding with.

The solution is to find a scapegoat declare a crusade against it in order to keep them focused away from destroying their immediate surroundings. It worked in Fairy Wars, and it worked with Hectate. By using your super-fairy aspects (superior strength, memory, intelligence), you can gradually get the fairies dependant on you in order to make increasingly complex plans and pranks to inflict on the unfortunate other. The key here is that they're having fun plotting against whatever threat you have pointed out to them, whether or not it's even real.

Also, build your house to suit their particular element, and they'll add instead of destroy it. An ice fairy demands an ice palace, a sunflower fairy would obviously live in a sunflower field, the fairies of light are directly tied to their tree, ect. Adopting a fairy isn't something you do on a whim, you've got to plan it all out beforehand so not only will they mesh with you, but you'll mesh with them! Keep at it, and you'll have your very own minions just like Yuuka and Rin!

Of course, with the Baka, you're more likely to become her subordinate first because she's just that tough.

Cirno believes in the savior! Who this savior is, she doesn't really remember, but he can walk on water! Isn't that neat?

Cirno probably doesn't have any real idea about religion or the origins of her race beyond the vague notion that dying is bad and should be avoided, and so is acting like a jerk.
