Miko's personality may not be something one can find in a traditional idol; yet, she plays a lot of things safe (e.g. choosing not to be too lewd during the ahegao hashtag trend, choosing not to collab with males). I don't think she's doing anything new with her use of vulgar language or her style of presentation.

Miko closely resembles what alternative idols are, which for me, are essentially still idols. She has been musing over the concept of being an idol for a while now. I guess it helps that she was an idolfag in some capacity. I will be rooting for her at least in however she goes about being one. For me, I think I'm still not too sure if this vtuber business is reinventing or changing relationships between Internet personalities and fans.
