Well, according to Google Translate anyway, it seems like her parents didn't want her to become a seiyuu, or didn't think it would be a good idea. I think in some posts in her old blog she said she was rather sickly as a kid. (I was sick a lot too as a kid; that's part of the reason I love her. I regret nothing.)
