Different anon than the one you've been replying to here. I think you identified something important: that the fans can take the setting a whole lot further than the developers can. It goes without saying that

is because the devs have to tread carefully with their game. It's far more safe (and therefore profitable) for them to keep WWII at an arms distance, despite the subject of the game. It avoids controversy and keeps everyone mostly satisfied. However, the door is still open for fans to push it to the limit, as evidenced by your picture and its associated story. They've wisely left the depth and shadow of the real war to the fandom, it's up to use (or at least the content producers) to explore the setting and the consequences as much as we want to.
