Little known fact about elves, their faces are extremely erogenous. This is due to a mix of natural and cultural selection whereby the most sensitive of their species to atmospheric and magical changes excel as the best hunters and mages, and thus experience the most reproductive success.

This is why they do not wear helmets, asides from the hassle designing a functional helmet around their long ears would have been. It's a well known fact their ears are sensitive to touch and sound, but their lips, cheeks, eyes (obviously) and even eyebrows are all extremely sensitive to the most minute changes. Same goes for their noses in fact, it's said that an elf can sniff out her mate in the middle of a forest from outside of it, even. Truly a wonderous species. Keep this in mind if you ever find your ear or head patting session turning into her nuzzling her cheek into the palm of your hand. Their whole face is a natural treasure.
