That part was in Saikoroshi directly from Hanyuu herself and is one of the legends mentioned in Matsuri.

Like I posted above, Kamikashimashi's explanation of Hanyuu as a virus collective explains her abilities even in the new Higurashi stuff, but it clashes badly with everything that has been written about her past in everything before and after Kamikashimashi.

Yeah. Technically, the whole interdimensional alien origin stuff originates from some lines in Matsuri, then got more detailed with some first person flashbacks in the original Ps2 Miotsukushi and finally the actual arc in Kizuna.

However, it's all clearly incompatible with the Eua stuff even if it was left very vague. Even Mei, which is written by the console writer, is disregarding Kizuna and shows Hanyuu already as Hanyuu with the horn scratch and such in the ancient past.
