I didn't even start with AKB when I got into idols. I felt the huge amount of members was overwhelming and I actually hated them at first. I only got into Nogis by chance because they were labeled as rivals, so I checked out a few of their MVs just out of spite of AKB. I probably would've never gotten into any of the other sister groups unless Rena was kennin in Nogis. I followed Rena into SKE, then I followed Jurina and Milky into AKB and NMB and so on. I think it's much more organic and easier to start with Nogis actually, because there's fewer members to keep track of, there's not as much fan service to put people off, and their songs are better.

Just skimmed through that thread too, anon. I checked out some of Rena's seiyuu skills on youtube, and it doesn't sound all that bad. There's equal amounts of complaints that the anime is just bad and/or Rena is bad. Honestly, I don't watch anime that much and Denpa Kyoushi is something I'd never watch. There's no good comments about Rena, but then again, can't really take the opinion of /a/ seriously when they complain about "some disgusting 3D idol pig who quit 'SKB' to become a seiyuu."
