You should learn to enjoy what you like and not give a fuck what anyone else thinks. You are much less likely to get judged if you are confident and passionate about your hobbies too.
My mom was originally against me getting a daki, but I doubled down and got it through friend anyway. There was no way I would be waiting until I move out. Some time later, annoyed about questions about getting a gf I explained that I am a waifuist, how does that work and that there won't be any gf. She came to conclusion it's not really different from a spiritual pursuit like being a monk or celibate priest and accepted and supported that.
