Something semi-serious I've been thinking:

The situation after FSN, any path, is that the Tohsaka lineage is in dire straits. Their fortune is almost entirely spent (only the big house in Japan remains, if she doesn't sell her home Rin is dead broke) and there is only one living descendant. After HF route Rin knows how to gain access to the Second Sorcery, but she lacks the physical means - namely the astronomical amounts of money and gems an attempt would cost.

Now, Edelfelts 1) are related to Tohsakas, 2) swim in money, and 3) have a grudge against them for stealing their Gandr. Screw job offers, wouldn't it be the best for both parties for them to outright adopt Rin? The new family would reclaim Gandr AND gain the Second Sorcery, something Rin could never manage alone.
