So some survey results were released recently (http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/national/news/20090128p2a00m0na011000c.html?inb=rs)), and once again the Japanese lay judge system has seen an incredibly low rate of approval. Lawyers don't want it, judges don't want it, citizens don't want it. Why is this still being considered as a viable proposal?

Not that it was a good idea in the first place. Juries aren't too bad because you've got numerous people and at least one probably isn't a total fuckwit. Judges, though? Come on, that's just fucking stupid.
